Well this is a topic that i would like to start. I think it would be good for idea's both in apps and types of distro's that the community can eventually make. Also this is something for the possibility of finding good multi boot systems. Like on my system i currently have Ubuntu 10.04, Fedora 13, and Windows 7. Maybe i want a little fun distro for speed in browsing or something, or a USB distro for fun on the go.

If you have any distro's that you come across that would run well on an old machine or from usb or something like that and still has that "fresh and clean" (Not TinyCore) look post them here to share with the community.

Or specialty ones like Ubuntu Studio something that basically only has one set task or collective group of tasks.

Ill start an example of one i will be downloading shortly when i get a chance to make it nice.

Nothing against TinyCore i love it but i wanted this for slightly larger more colorful releases.

Maybe we could start a whole forum so its easy to browse.

Template (I feel this is good but feel free to edit it)

Rating: 4.5/5

Verdict: This is a good little distro for anyone looking to create a media pc for your television. The only reason i rated it 4.5 instead of 5 is that you need a good machine to run this bad boy and you may hit a few kinks here and there nothing major. All in all near perfect for this genre of distro. If you want a media pc or looking for a distro to install on that new Nettop/HTPC you bought check this one out.

INSTALL NOTES (Read This - It's Important):

* To install Element insert the disc into your system at boot, when the live cd starts, access your Home Folder by clicking the folder icon on your central launcher bar, then click the Install Element icon. After installation you may delete this launcher from your Home Folder.
* On your first boot after system installation we recommend visiting the Addons/Extras section of our site and installing any needed addons from their that you may require, such as Boxee or LIRC.
* Element only supports the English language, other language settings will cause problems. You've been warned.
* For the optimal interface use a 1280x720 resolution on a direct rendering capable video card with HDMI inputs. All newer ATI, Intel, and Nvidia Cards with HDMI support direct rendering and recommended resolutions.
* Be sure to update your package lists in Synaptic or run 'sudo apt-get update' before using the Hardware Driver installer to make sure you are getting the latest versions of the available drivers.

excellent i actually was just thinking about a media center
was thinking of building a DSL based system with a xbmc main control
but this looks nice may just deal with the larger footprint of ubuntu and try this out
but will first find a good sound card for surround sound piped into my surround stereo.

thanks for the peek-a-boo

That sure is a nice distro and a nice review - optionally you can also post them here:

I spend a few hours on creating whats allready on it - but feel free to add your reviews with install notes there.
